August 3, 2017

If you receive an email with the subject line:“<some_name> has just shared a Google Doc with you.” do not open or click on anything in it.

Our team was just notified about a sophisticated phishing scam that affects Gmail users and is currently making its way through the internet.

The email looks like a link to a Google Doc, but it actually gives a 3rd party permissions to manage your contacts and email. Below is a quick video of what it looks like and a screenshot of an email example.

If anyone clicked on the link for any reason, the easiest way to remediate is:
1. Go to https://myaccount.google.com/permissions
2. Find the app called “Google Docs”
3. Revoke all permissions to it
